Hiring Process Murfreesboro Fire Rescue establishes an eligibility list annually for fire recruit and certified firefighter. We routinely post both positions in the Spring. Applicants are required to perform a physical ability test, written test, and panel interview to be ranked on an eligibility list.
Firefighter applicants must have attended a recruit academy that consisted of a minimal 310 hours of fire related training. Medical training does not count toward the 310 hours. To be considered for the firefighter position, applicants must be a certified firefighter 1 (IFSAC or Pro-Board) and have a current medical licensure, emergency medical responder (EMR) minimal. The assistant chief of training will assess all firefighter applicants to determine qualifications.
