Fire Rescue

    Citizens Fire Academy is a chance for citizens to better appreciate and understand the Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department employees and the services the department offers. During the six-week course, students receive the opportunity to participate in activities and services provided by MFRD. Students are able to try on turnout gear, experience climbing a 65’ aerial, practice extrication, run through the firefighter ability test, and much more.

    One can can make a difference! Donate canned and nonperishable food items during the months of September & October. Food items can be dropped off at Bradley Academy Museum & Cultural Center Tuesday – Friday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. We will be partnering with a local shelter and donating all the items collected at the end of the drive!

  6. Costume Design Class

    What is a Costume Designer? A costume designer is in charge of designing the clothing elements worm by actors for a state production. Costume Designers possess a similar skill set to that of traditional fashion designers, but must also satisfy unique demands of designing clothes for theatre. From Willy Wonka's oompaloompa costumes to Hamilton's Eliza costume, designers set the tone and feel of a production. Costume designers can choose designs that span a lifetime. Join us for a 12-week course of costume design. By the end of the course, you will understand what it takes to design and try your hand at designing costumes for a future show.     The Disney film "Moana" is tremendously entertaining, with stunning oceanic animation, a captivating adventure tale, a feisty heroine, and tuneful musical numbers. We will enchant our audience with this medley, which includes: "How Far I'll Go", "I Am Moana (Song of the Ancestors)", "We Know the Way", "Where You Are and You're Welcome." Each age group will be learning a portion of these songs to create 3 distinct and different sections of this composition. This weekly choir will get your child excited about singing and they will enjoy learning the ins and outs of a small ensemble choir. They will dance and sing their hearts out and be harmonizing together in no time. For ages 6-10. Registration is required by calling 615-893-7439 ext 6104 and ends August 5. Space is limited.

    This class is a great introduction to classic musical theatre dance basics from jazz to tap. Each step will be demonstrated, broken down, and added to appropriate choreography to build their confidence. Your child will build a foundation of musical theatre dance steps and confidence for their next musical audition and performance. At the end of the sememster the dancers will record the group choreography they have learned to share with their families. Dancers are required to have tap shoes and character shoes for each class and to wear proper dance attire or leggings and a Perform Murfreesboro t-shirt. For ages 13-high school senior.   1. Citizens Police Academy (CPA) POSTPONED UNTIL JAN. 2021

    Committed to expanding its relationship with citizens and continuing a tradition established in June of 2000, Murfreesboro Police Department holds semi-annual sessions of its Citizens Police Academy. The program seeks to educate, exchange ideas, and familiarize citizens with primary law enforcement operations and training. It will cover various topics such as: Uniformed Division policies and procedures Traffic enforcement and investigation Patrol procedures Criminal investigations Search and seizure laws and procedures K-9 Corps Officer survival A ride-a-long with an officer Community Outreach Programs Tours of the department facilities Public relations Overview of the Special Operations Unit Gang, vice, and narcotic investigation procedures Domestic violence While the academy is not intended to certify a civilian as a police officer, it will better inform citizens about MPD. Our goal is to create a better quality of life for citizens, visitors, and guests.
