Trees are one of Murfreesboro’s natural resources. The Urban Forestry crew works to protect, maintain and expand our valuable urban forest.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee proper maintenance of public trees to maintain a safe and healthy urban forest.
  • Remove or mitigate tree hazards for public safety
  • Plan the proper planting of trees along the City’s rights-of-way and other City property
  • Cycle pruning along the City’s roadways for vehicular clearance and visibility

Our Goal

  • To manage and preserve the City’s tree canopy to maximize the environmental and economic benefits the urban forest provides
  • To mitigate hazards for public safety in a proactive manner
