Solid Waste

The Murfreesboro Solid Waste Department is responsible for curbside collection of household garbage and yard waste. Together, we work hard to help make your neighborhood look as pleasing as possible. We'll provide residents with a free 96-gallon garbage cart and we will empty it once per week. Additional carts are available for purchase. For more information or to purchase an additional cart, please call 615-893-3681. 

Household Hazardous Waste Collection

We will update this information for the 2024 hazardous waste collection date when it becomes available.

NOTE:
Items no longer accepted at the mobile Household Hazardous Waste collections include alkaline batteries, paint and electronics.

Loose grass clippings and bulky item collection

Loose grass clippings will be a charge of $5.00 per occurrence. To avoid the $5.00 charge, clippings should be placed in a biodegradable paper bag for curbside collection.

Bulky Item Collection Charges

  • $10 per item for the first three items.

  • $30 for each item over three items. 
    For Example:

    3 items would be $30.00

    4 items would be $60.00. 

Examples of Items

  • Mattress and matching box spring= 1 item
  • Headboard, footboard and bed rails (all matching)= 1 item
  • Sectional sofa= 1 item

 All charges will be added to the water bill.
