The Washington Theatre
Located inside Patterson Park Community Center, The Washington Theatre is a state-of-the-art facility that includes a 305-seat house, green room, dressing rooms, costume shop, prop shop, scene shop and offices. This space is compatible for theatre productions, fashion shows, talent shows, demonstrations, dance recitals, concerts, spelling bees, graduations and more. 8:00 a.m.- 9:00 p.m., Monday-Friday
8:00 a.m.- 9:00 p.m., Saturday
1:30 p.m.- 5:00 p.m., Sunday**
**No rentals before 1:30 p.m. on Sundays. We cannot open the theatre doors for rentals prior to that time.

RENTAL HOLDS
If you are interested in reserving the Washington Theatre and affiliated spaces and would like to place a “hold” on potential event dates, please be advised that holds can only be honored for two weeks. Holds are lifted following the two-week time frame and are no longer available to the potential renter. Rentals are confirmed once the client fills out a contract which is then signed by City of Murfreesboro and returned, and the signing fee has been paid. Holds for specific date(s) are only offered to one client at a time. Repeat holds are not allowed.
RENTAL DEADLINE
Rentals must be booked a minimum of 45 days before the rental event. Rental schedules are released on the 10th day of every month for the following month. For example: the rental schedule for March is released on February 10. All rentals must be booked before the 10th of the preceding month to allow for staff scheduling and appropriate preparation.
PARKING
Renters are welcome to use the Patterson Park Community Center parking lot for events and rental meetings. There are 186 parking spaces and 9 accessible spaces available. Parking is not permitted behind the Washington Theatre. MAP

The Holloway High School parking lot is an 8 minute walk from the theatre.
FOOD + DRINK
Eating or drinking (with the exception of water) is not permitted inside the Washington Theatre auditorium or backstage. Renters using the Greenroom have access to a refrigerator and a sink. Alcoholic beverages, including beer, are prohibited. Renters may distribute/offer certain food and beverage items at their event with written permission from the City of Murfreesboro. Food used as a prop on stage must be properly stored by the House or Stage Manager and disposed of/removed from the building after each rental time.
LIGHTING
The Washington Theatre is equipped with a six-area lighting plot available to renters for use as-is. Limited re-gelling, re-hanging, refocusing, and re-patching are possible with advance discussion with Washington Theatre Lighting Technicians. Four specials may be added to the house plot. All additional lighting requests must be made by rentals (2) weeks prior to the event and must be executed by Washington Theatre personnel.
STAGE
The Washington theatre stage floor is hardwood maple and is designed to muffle sounds. Renters are welcome to bring props, equipment, and other materials to support their event needs.
All set pieces used by renters on the stage must be self-supporting and installed with sand bags and frame braces. Set assembly must be part of scheduled load- in and load-out times specified within renter contracts. Set pieces may not be screwed or tacked to the floor. Only painter’s tape may be used on the stage floor.
Stage curtains and white cyclorama can be repositioned, but not removed, and decorations may not be attached to curtains. Tap shoes may be used on the stage but should be in good working condition with no loose screws, rivets, or nails.
Scenery, props, costumes, or other property left by renters must be removed at the scheduled load-out time. Any remaining property will become the property of the City of Murfreesboro.
ACCESSIBILITY
The Washington Theatre is a 100% ADA Accessible performance and event space, with wheelchair accessibility and six open spaces for wheelchair seating in the theatre. All persons renting from the Washington Theatre must comply with the Americans Disability Act, and its programs, services, and events must reflect compliance with these standards and not discriminate against any person for any unlawful basis including, but not limited to, sex, race, religion, national origin, or disability.
PAYMENT
Payment must be made in the form of a check, cash, or card and submitted to the theatre manager. Payments cannot be made over the phone. Payment must be issued before the renter’s event or at the agreed upon time.
INSURANCE
Renter’s must maintain a liability insurance policy with a minimum limit of $1,000,000 for their event. Proof of insurance must be provided in advance of any event.
