ABOUT COUNCILMEMBER AVERWATER
As a Rutherford County native, Averwater has seen firsthand the growth of Murfreesboro and feels passionately about the City’s success.
Averwater has served on the Murfreesboro Planning Commission since 2021 and recognizes it was this opportunity that led her to run for City Council. Jami Averwater’s first term began in 2022.
She is a proud Webb School alum and Bell Buckle holds a special place in her heart. After graduating with a degree in Economics from Middle Tennessee State University, she continued on to receive a J.D. from Belmont University College of Law.
Averwater is a co-founder of Hywater Title and maintains an active law practice. She is a member of the Alumni Board of The Webb School of Bell Buckle and was chosen as a “Rising Star” by Murfreesboro VIP (2020) and a recipient of Murfreesboro VIP’s “Forty Under Forty” award (2022). In her spare time, she enjoys walking Murfreesboro’s Greenway system, reading travel magazines, and volunteering for local charities.
