
Crime Scene Investigator 1
General Description
The purpose of this position is to work within the Police Department and respond to crime scenes.
Essential Functions:
• Collecting and Processing evidence at a crime scene.
• Processing evidence for latent prints or other trace evidence.
• Responsible for photographing crime scenes.
• Diagramming/mapping crime scenes.
• Writing detailed crime scene reports.
• Maintaining crime scene equipment.
• Examining latent prints for identification purposes.
• Submitting evidence to lab.
• Preparing lab reports.
• Testifying in Court.
• Works on special projects as needed.
• Performs other work as assigned.
Physical Demands:
• Performs work that involves walking or standing most of the time.
• Involves exerting up to 20 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis.
• Use of fingers, hands or limbs on repetitive operation of mechanical or electronic office machines or tools within moderate tolerances or limits of accuracy.
• Involves exposure to a variety of environments that may be heavy in dusk, pollen, biological hazards that contain a variety of diseases or potentially hazardous chemicals.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
• Requires a High School Diploma or GED.
• Requires over six (6) months of relevant experience.
Special Certifications and Licenses:
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
