Education and Outreach

Education and outreach programs help improve water quality in local streams because they raise awareness about behaviors and practices that contribute to pollution in stormwater runoff.  These programs strive to make learning about potential impacts of stormwater runoff fun and effective.

Audiences:

  • Public (local elected officials, schools, homeowners associations, professional chemical applicators, streamside property owners, and other commercial and professional stakeholders)
  • Engineering and development community (engineers, landscape architects, developers, builders, and professional stakeholders)
  • City employees

Goals:

  • Reduce or eliminate stormwater impacts on local water bodies
  • Provide education on water quality and stormwater
  • Help cultivate an awareness of stormwater impacts for generations to come
  • Help businesses adopt good housekeeping practices
