Prohibition of Cell Phone Use in Motor Vehicle (TCA 55-8-199; Effective July 1, 2019)

Move Over Law (effective 07/01/2017)
The City's "move over law", MCC 32-730, has been updated to match the changes recently made in the State's "move over law", TCA 55-8-132.
All of the following vehicles are now included in the Move Over Law:
Authorized Emergency Vehicles
Recovery Vehicles
Highway Maintenance Vehicles
Solid Waste Vehicles
Utility Service Vehicles
Any stationary vehicle, on the shoulder or median, with flashers activated

Seat Belt Fines (TCA 55-9-603 Effective January 1, 2016)
The fine for an adult seatbelt violation, if appearing in court, is a minimum fine of $2.00 and a maximum fine of $50.00. However, in lieu of appearing in court, a person may submit to the clerk before their scheduled court date, a fine of $25.00 for a first violation and $50.00 for a second or subsequent violation. No court costs are assessed in addition to the fine.
