[ARCHIVED] MFRD to Host Several Child Safety Seat Inspection Stations

Upcoming Child Safety Seat Inspections July and August 2015.jpg

Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department will be hosting one Child Safety Seat Inspection Station a week over the next four weeks.

These inspection stations will be held Thursday, July 23 (Station 7 on N Thompson Lane), Wednesday, July 29 (Station 8 on E Northfield Blvd), Thursday, August 6 (Station 7 on N Thompson Lane), and Friday, August 14 (Headquarters on E Vine Street).

Parents/caregivers can stop by on any of the dates between 2:00-4:00 pm and MFRD Child Safety Seat Technicians will educate them on proper seat selection, placement, and installation.

“Typically at these events, we find that at least four out of every five seats checked are installed incorrectly,” said Assistant Fire Marshal and Child Safety Seat Coordinator Carl Peas. “Our job is to correct these mistakes and educate the parents/caregivers on proper installation to ensure that their children ride safely.”

There is no cost for these events.

Parents/caregivers may also contact MFRD Administration Monday through Friday 8:00 am-4:30 pm at 615-893-1422 to schedule a safety seat check or visit for more information.
