Just a little over 24 hours later, MFRD crews were back on the scene of Sunday’s water rescue at the Manson Pike Dam near Searcy Street. District 7 and Engine 4 responded to the site shortly after 6:00 Monday evening.
Another young male had been swimming and became trapped in rushing water. When crews arrived, he was standing to the side of the dam.
Crews did not have to deploy the boat. Two crew members were able to wade out into the water, provide the victim with a personal flotation device, and lead him safely to the riverside.
Shift Commander Daryl Alexander reminds the public, “It is important to use proper judgment when water levels are high. Rising waters are very dangerous and not favorable for swimming or other recreational activities. The three victims from this week’s water rescues have been very fortunate. Outcomes could have been much worse.”
No injuries were reported with this incident.
