TFT 2.JPG

The Toys for Tots program has extended the registration deadline for parents/legal guardians wishing to include their child(ren) in this year’s giveaway.

Remaining registration dates are Tuesday, December 8th through Thursday, December 10th at the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 907 East Main Street from 5:00-7:00 pm. Anyone wishing to register their children must bring a photo ID, proof of address, each child’s birth certificate, proof of guardianship, and proof of hardship (evidence of government assistance or free and reduced lunch program, etc.) The giveaway will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2015, with the location, times, and details given out at the registration. You MUST BE PRE-REGISTERED and have a valid ticket for each child in order to participate in the 2015 toy giveaway.

The program is currently very short on toys and volunteer assistance. New, unwrapped toys may be dropped off at any MFRD fire station, the Fire Administration Office, or any other location throughout Murfreesboro that has a designated “Toys for Tots” drop box.

Volunteers are needed Monday, December 14 through Friday, December 18 from 5:00-7:00 pm to assist with decorating the giveaway site and to sort toys by age groups/gender. “We will also need several volunteers the day of the giveaway,” said MFRD’s Toys for Tots Representative Michael Bartlett. “Individuals or groups can come and work in two to four hour increments if desired,” said Bartlett. The giveaway will be held from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturday, December 19.

For more information on volunteering or receiving assistance, email Toys for Tots at toysfortotsrc@gmail.com.

“Each year there is a lot of hard work and a lot of fun building up to the day we give out the toys,” Bartlett commented. “Volunteers can bring their families to enjoy the experience, and can expect full hearts at the end of the day!”
