The October 2017 episode of “In the City,” Murfreesboro’s video magazine program hosted by Cecilia Herrell, is airing on CityTV throughout the month of October. Take a trip back in time to 1973 Murfreesboro as a time capsule is unveiled, hear a taste of talented artists set to hit the stage at the Acorn Festival, and learn about the City’s proposed Design Guidelines.

- The Murfreesboro Police Department and Rutherford County Historical Society opened a 1973 Time Capsule at MPD Headquarters on Church St. That was the year the police building was completed. MPD is only a few weeks away from relocating to a new headquarters on N. Highland Ave.
- The Second Annual Stones River Water Fest highlighted the importance of Murfreesboro’s drinking water source.
- School children in Murfreesboro City Schools raised $6,000 for victims of hurricanes Harvey and Erma.
- Dr. Caresa Dodson explains the importance of Read 20 to helping children succeed.
- Plus, CityTV and the City I-T Department win national awards, photographer Jim Davis captured this year’s Puppy Plunge at Boro Beach, and Ralph King is the City’s latest STARS Award winner.
