[ARCHIVED] Local Conference Will Include Pyrotechnics Classes

TFSIA-2018-Conference

The Tennessee Fire Safety Inspectors Association (TFSIA) annual conference is being held in Murfreesboro at Embassy Suites (1200 Conference Center Blvd) this week.

The conference includes two pyrotechnics classes that will involve shooting fireworks on Wednesday, November 7. “Residents and businesses in the area should not be alarmed if they hear loud bursts,” said MFRD Assistant Chief and TFSIA Member Carl Peas.

The fireworks will go off two times on Wednesday, at approximately 10:30 am and 3:30 pm. They will be discharged from The Grove at Williamson Place.

“This is a training exercise,” said Peas. “This should not be considered a show and we are not inviting the public to come watch,” he continued. “We just want people to be aware so they don’t call 9-1-1.”

The Tennessee Fire Safety Inspectors Association was established October 25, 1967 for the purpose of uniting those engaged in the field of fire inspection, protection, and prevention activities.

A key component of the Association is the annual educational conference.  With membership and attendance at 250+ each year, the TFSIA conference is one of the largest attended events for continuing education classes in the region.  The annual conference features instructors from around the country to bring new technologies, methodologies, and perspectives as well as updates on code revisions, and basic code training.
