'Stories of the Road' explores forced and voluntary migrations through Rutherford County. The exhibit highlights College Street, in Murfreesboro, as a branch of the Cherokee Trail of Tears, a byway for troops during the Civil War, the midway point of the Dixie Highway, and a connecting branch to Stewart Air Force Base in Smyrna.
The February 4 Exhibit Opening and Reception will be held from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. The Heritage Center of Murfreesboro and Rutherford County is located at 225 West College Street in Murfreesboro.
The Heritage Center of Murfreesboro and Rutherford County is a joint venture between the Tennessee Civil War National Heritage Area, Main Street: Murfreesboro/Rutherford County, the City of Murfreesboro, Rutherford County, and the Center for Historic Preservation at MTSU. The Heritage Center is open Mon.-Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free.
