Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department’s Engine 3, Districts 1 and 8, and Rescue 2 responded to a fire at 1607 Middle Tennessee Boulevard (University BP) just before 10:00 Tuesday night.
Upon arrival, crews discovered light smoke in the rear area of the building. Crews used a thermal imaging camera to locate the fire, which ended up being in the front of the building.
“It was odd,” said Shift Commander Tim Swann. “Light smoke was presenting from the rear of the building when we arrived, but after a search with our TIC (thermal imaging camera), we learned that the fire was actually in a void area in the attic space in the front of the building, just above the insulation in the ceiling.”
According to Swann, crews were able to extinguish the fire quickly once it was located.
No one was injured during the incident. Electricity, water, and gas will be shut off at the business and the BP will be closed until further notice.
The cause of the fire is unknown; however, MFRD’s Fire Marshal’s Office is on the scene to conduct a routine investigation.
More information will be released as it becomes available.
