Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews reopened Cason Lane after temporarily closing roadway near the intersection of State Route 99 (New Salem Highway) today (July 12) in Rutherford County.
- Monday, June 21 through Wednesday, July 12, Cason Lane will be CLOSED north of the intersection with SR 99.
During the closure, all traffic will be detoured. (see map) Message boards are already in place near the intersection to alert motorists to the closure. Drivers are advised to plan ahead.
The closure will allow crews to install new storm drainage. The work is part of the widening of SR 99, between Cason Lane and Interstate 24. Due to the nature of the work, it is not possible to maintain a lane of travel while work is underway; however, local businesses will be open and accessible. The City of Murfreesboro and local emergency services have also been notified.
The scheduled closure is dependent on weather and conditions underneath the roadway. Should inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances prevent work from occurring as scheduled, the timeline will be adjusted.
The $28.7 million project is expected to be completed in September 2021. For more information on the complete widening of SR 99, visit the project website at www.tn.gov/tdot/projects/region-3/state-route-99.
