[ARCHIVED] Special Edition of ‘In the City’ airing in January


A Special Edition of “In the City” features some of the most popular stories for 2021 from the Greenway and Miracle Field to MTSU’s Chris Young Café and Uncle Nearest distillery. 


“In the City” is currently airing on YouTube, CityTV and other platforms throughout January, featuring the latest City news at


The “Best of 2021” January “Special Edition” episode includes: 


  • “Uncle Nearest” Green Distillery at Sand Creek Farm in Shelbyville featuring master blender Victoria Butler, the great-great granddaughter of Uncle Nearest 

  • Murfreesboro Greenway connects to Barfield Crescent Park, completing the southern stretch of the Greenway 
  • “First Responders Day” devoted a day to players at Miracle League Field along with a CityTV-produced promo for the upcoming 2022 All-Star games, Sept. 16-18, 2022.
  • Country music artist and Murfreesboro native Chris Young cuts ribbon for the grand opening of the Chris Young Café 
  • The “Soul Sisters,” Scales & Sons softball team, celebrated their history-making legacy from the 1960s  
  • St. Clair Senior Center re-opened for the first time in a year following the Covid pandemic
  • Speed Cushions pilot program on Alexander Blvd. to reduce speed generates favorable response from neighbors 
  • Blue Cross Healthy Place playground opened in Barfield Crescent Park
  • 2021 Youth Leadership Rutherford ceremony recognizes 27 high school seniors. 


“In the City” is hosted by Michael Linn White and produced by Steve Burris every month in the studios located at Murfreesboro City Hall.   


The January 2022 “Special Edition” is airing on CityTV throughout the month or can be viewed anytime on the City of Murfreesboro’s YouTube channel and Facebook page. The magazine show airs every day at 8:00 a.m., 6:30 p.m., and 10:30 p.m. on CityTV.  Murfreesboro CityTV can be viewed on Comcast Xfinity Channels 3 and 1094, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, and Apple TV.
