[ARCHIVED] Feb. 23 Public Informational Meeting on Future Land Use Map Update

The City of Murfreesboro Planning Department will hold a Public Informational Meeting on the proposed Future Land Use Map Update, Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The Update is proposed “to better capture the anticipated growth patterns and vision for the City of Murfreesboro.”  

 

The Public Meeting will be held in the rotunda on the first floor of City Hall, 111 West Vine Street in Murfreesboro. The informational meeting will include a brief presentation at 5 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. in a come and go format, with information stations and staff available to answer any questions concerning the Future Land Use Map Update.  All interested business owners, developers, and citizens are encouraged to attend.

Attendees can talk to Planning Department staff at the meeting about the Future Land Use Map Update (2022) and the update to Chapter 4 (Land Use) of the Murfreesboro 2035 Comprehensive Plan. The City of Murfreesboro Planning Commission adopted a comprehensive plan, Murfreesboro 2035, in 2017. The Plan sets forth a 20-year vision for growth and development and establishes a guide for policy, program, and project initiatives. The purpose of the Future Land Use Map is to inform development decisions, to ensure the efficient use of land to accommodate growth and development; to minimize opportunities for incompatible land uses; and to efficiently coordinate land use and infrastructure needs.

 

The proposed updates to the comprehensive plan and future land use map will be posted to the City’s website at www.murfreesborotn.gov the week of Feb. 14, 2022 at www.murfreesborotn.gov/planning. A Public hearing before the Planning Commission will be held on March 16, 2022, at 1:00 p.m.
