MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department Assistant Chief of Operations Mark McCluskey has been named interim fire chief by City Manager Craig Tindall.  
McCluskey assumed the new role on Wednesday, July 20 after the resignation of Chief Mark Foulks.  Foulks resigned to pursue other opportunities.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve as interim chief of the Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department,” McCluskey said.  “I’m looking forward to uniting the men and women of this department and moving forward.  We will continue to provide the utmost professional service to the citizens and visitors of Murfreesboro.”
McCluskey began his career with MFRD in February 1985 as a fire fighter and moved up through the ranks as a captain and to battalion chief of special operations.  McCluskey has attended various leadership courses.  He is a certified fire officer I and II, fire instructor I and II, fire inspector, and incident safety officer.  He holds certifications in hazardous materials, confined space, rope rescue technician and swift water rescue. He is also a certified advanced emergency medical technician.
