[ARCHIVED] September ‘In the City’ features Middle Half, Notes Live, Airport Hangar, more on YouTube and CityTV

CityTV and its monthly video magazine “In the City,” is currently airing its latest edition on YouTube, CityTV and other platforms throughout the month of September. Get the latest City news at beginning Monday, Sept. 5 at 6 p.m. 


Michael Linn White hosts “In the City” with Multi-Media Producer Steve Burris every month in the studios located at Murfreesboro City Hall.


New stories in the September edition of “In the City” include: 


  • The 2022 and final running of the Middle Half marathon will be dedicated to one of its founders, Miles Tate, who passed away unexpectedly April 4 at the age of 62. Miles ran fifty-four marathons, including the Boston Marathon four times. Here how fellow Middle Half Board members are memorializing Tate, urging residents to line the course Saturday, Oct. 8 to cheer on the runners in memory of Tate’s legacy.   • The Murfreesboro City Council approved the Development Agreement for the Notes Live amphitheater project, a $40 million entertainment investment on Medical Center Parkway and Gateway Boulevard. The Notes Live campus will include the Bourbon Brothers Smokehouse and Tavern, Boot Barn Hall, and the Sunset on the Stones River Amphitheater. Multimedia producer Steve Burris returns to the announcement May 19 to remind viewers of the features and the man behind the development, founder J.W. Roth. The Development Agreement includes significant traffic improvements to Medical Center Parkway and surrounding roadways 

  • The Murfreesboro Municipal Airport continues to upgrade its facilities with a new hangar supported by State economic development grant funding. The new hangar replaces the original hangar to the state-of-the art terminal built in 2020. Airport Director Chad Gehrke has the details  
  • Steve Burris helps us imagine trying to live without water. The Murfreesboro Water Resources Department is looking for high school students to participate in A Day Without Water P.S.A. video contest to raise awareness and educate youth about the value of drinking water. Sharon Seibert, Community Affairs Manager for MWRD, shares the mission behind A Day Without Water and the prize for winning the contest.   • The Murfreesboro City Council is welcoming two New Council Members with a swearing-in on Sept. 1, 2022. Michael Linn White features new and returning Council members. Jami Averwater and Austin Maxwell join Madelyn Scales-Harris and Mayor Shane McFarland who were reelected to another four years on the Council. Hear what Averwater, Maxwell, Scales-Harris and Mayor McFarland are pledging to focus on in the coming four years 
  • Do you remember what it was like on that First Day of Kindergarten? Steve Burris takes us inside a Murfreesboro City School with teacher Mandy Grimes for the first day 
  • Murfreesboro Parks & Recreation hosted a family-friendly concert featuring award-winning singer and songwriter Roger Day. Dream Big as Multimedia producer Marcus Delaney takes us to Old Fort Park to laugh and think. Amber Pool with the Parks & Rec Department also talks about pop-up art activities.   • If you build it, they will come. Kristen Hopkins with Outdoor Murfreesboro shares how the Pollinator Plot features plants, flowers, and native grasses to recreate a diverse system to attract birds and insects critical to a healthy environment 


The September 2022 edition of “In the City” is airing on CityTV throughout the month or viewed anytime on the City of Murfreesboro’s YouTube channel and Facebook page. The magazine show airs every day at 8:00 a.m., 6:00 p.m., and 10:30 p.m. on CityTV.
