Mayor Shane McFarland discusses the City’s major 2022 accomplishments in his latest “State of the City.” The interview discussion with Public Information Officer Mike Browning is airing on CityTV and available to watch on YouTube and Facebook at

Mayor McFarland addresses accomplishments and challenges in managing a growing city, particularly infrastructure needs and costs. Among the key highlights of the interview: 


  • The Community Investment Trust providing proceeds to the City from the sale of the MED
  • Downtown Redevelopment, including daylighting Town Creek for a future park and Broad Street multiuse re-development  
  • The Notes Live Amphitheater entertainment venue with an anticipated groundbreaking in 2023  
  • The new Municipal Airport terminal as an attractive gateway to the City 
  • Solid Waste alternatives to Middle Point Landfill including the design contract with WastAway
