[ARCHIVED] Public Art unveiled at Airport, New Soccer Facility, ‘Pioneer Days,’ and more ‘In the City’


“In the City,” the City of Murfreesboro’s video magazine, features the latest happenings in the growing city. Host Michael Linn White and award-winning multimedia producer Steve Burris deliver news and stories across Murfreesboro.

Stories in the May edition of “In the City” include: 


  • Murfreesboro’s Tennessee State Soccer Association (TSSA) and City officials cut the ribbon for a new Indoor Soccer Practice Facility at Richard Siegel Soccer Complex as Murfreesboro becomes the destination for soccer development. Hear why John Snyder, TSSA President, chose Murfreesboro for its headquarters     
  • Murfreesboro dedicates a new sculpture, “Direction,” crafted by a local artist Joe Brown at the Murfreesboro Municipal Airport 
  • Hobgood Elementary School hosted ‘Night of the Arts’ featuring twenty-five local artists 
  • A Murfreesboro Man is alive thanks to the skills of Murfreesboro first responders. See how Stanley Taubman shows his deep appreciation for saving his life after a heart attack in October 2021  
  • It was another “Great Day for Up” at Patterson Park Community Center on Dr. Seuss Day 
  • Wheelchair-bound residents can better enjoy the beautiful outdoors of City parks with a new Customized Cart funded by a special grant 
  • Go back in time to Pioneer Days at Cannonsburgh Village and celebrate Earth Day in downtown Murfreesboro   
  • Murfreesboro continues to celebrate and promote arts and culture with newly installed Art Laureates 
  • “Welcome to Our World” features lifeguard jobs with Fredia Colwell and Aly Dabbs. Plus, the Read to Succeed Spelling Bee, PAWS “Pet of the Month,” STARS Award and FEMA Assistance following tornadoes in Rutherford County.
