[ARCHIVED] Back-to-School Safety Information

S.T.O.P. Campaign log on Illustration of school bus and kids in front of school

It's Back-to-School Time in Tennessee! Since school buses will be on the roads, the Murfreesboro TN Police Department and Murfreesboro City Schools are teaming up for S.T.O.P.: Student Travel Outreach Program to promote safety for all drivers.

When a school bus stops at an intersection to load and unload children, drivers from ALL directions are required to stop until the bus resumes motion (as shown by the red vehicles in the image). It is a Class A misdemeanor, and the driver can be fined between $250 and $1,000 for not stopping for a stopped school bus.

Be alert and slow down, especially in school zones. Let's help to make this a great year for the kids!
