[ARCHIVED] MFRD Responds to Car Fire at 1710 Avon Road

Car Fire 1710 Avon Road

Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department’s Districts 4 and 7 responded to a car fire next to the home located at 1710 Avon Road around 1:30 Friday afternoon. (This incident was unrelated to the early morning car fire which resulted in one arrest.)

Crews arrived on scene to find a 1972 Cadillac Eldorado with heavy smoke exiting the engine compartment. When crews attempted to pull a line from the engine, they returned to find flames shooting from the car. They knocked it down quickly, but had to use a fan to remove smoke from the attic of the residence. The car sustained heavy fire damage to the engine compartment.

Another antique vehicle, a 1961 Ford truck, also received exterior body damage due to its proximity to the car.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. More information will be released as it becomes available.
