[ARCHIVED] MFRD Battles Blaze on Farm Involving 75-100 Bales of Hay

Hay bale fire

Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department’s Ladder 6, Engine 7, and the brush truck are currently battling 75-100 bales of hay on fire at a farm located in front of the VA golf course on Lebanon Pike.

The crews were called to the scene around 1:15 Tuesday afternoon.

According to Acting Shift Commander Joe Barrett, the flames are knocked down at this time.”The bales are still smoldering,” said Barrett. “The owner of the farm is moving bales around with a tractor as crews continue to extinguish hotspots.”

The farm has over 200 bales of hay. Crews are working to keep the fire from extending into the tree line.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time; however, officials are en route to investigate.

More information will be released as it becomes available.
