Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department’s District 9 was dispatched to Almar Knot Drive for a report of construction equipment on fire around 11:45 Wednesday morning.
When crews arrived on scene, they discovered a skid loader fully involved. Crews worked hard to extinguish the blaze, even using the spreaders to access the engine compartment.
According to Captain Joe Barrett, the equipment operator was pulling out of a lot and heard a pop just before the loader caught fire. “We don’t know the exact cause of the fire,” said Barrett. “What we do know is that the loader is a total loss.”
Barrett also said the owner of the equipment estimated its value around $40,000.
No injuries were associated with this incident.
