Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department placed three new apparatus in service this week.

Headquarters, located at 202 East Vine Street, will now have an aerial apparatus, also known as “Ladder 1.” Station 8, located at 1703 East Northfield Boulevard, received a new aerial with a 75’ ladder. The previous ladder length for Ladder 8 was 61’.

Station 3 located at 1511 Mercury Boulevard acquired a new pumper.

The three apparatus were delivered from the Toyne plant near the end of 2014. Placing them in service was postponed until all equipment could be installed and organized on the units and all personnel received training concerning operating the equipment.

The addition of the apparatus allowed MFRD to move the 61’ aerial to Station 7, located at 2715 North Thompson Lane. “This reassignment leaves the City of Murfreesboro well covered when it comes to aerial fire service protection,” said Assistant Chief of Operations Kaye Jernigan.

“We appreciate the support of our City Mayor and Council members, as well as City Administrative Staff, for adding these new apparatus to our fleet,” said Fire Chief Cumbey Gaines. “This will enhance our capabilities in relation to fire suppression, rescue, and other operations that our personnel provide to the community.”
