Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department's Ladders 1 and 2, Engine 1, and Rescue 2 responded to Star Auto located at 1915 South Church Street just before 12:45 Wednesday morning for a reported vehicle fire.

When crews arrived on scene, they discovered heavy smoke and flames coming from a Dodge Charger. They also learned that the fire had spread to the front of the building. Crews quickly extinguished the fires.

According to Shift Commander Daryl Alexander, the Charger is a total loss. Another vehicle, a Mazda CX-7, also received heavy damage due to heat exposure. Alexander says the damage to the building is only cosmetic damage to the exterior and no structural damage.

No injuries are associated with this incident. MFRD's Fire Marshals' Office was called to the scene to investigate.

Assistant Fire Marshal Carl Peas said, "At this time, we are confident that this was a set fire. We have video surveillance that shows an individual pouring an ignitable liquid between the two vehicles just before the Charger caught fire."

More information will be released as it becomes available.
