Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese discipline consisting of slow movements and postures done in a fluid and relaxed manner. It is used to reduce stress, increase flexibility, improve muscle strength, increase stamina and agility and increase the feeling of well-being. For ages 15+. What is that crawling, slithering, sliding, flying, and hopping across the trail or even in your backyard? Each week we will look at one of our resident education animals for a mini lesson of animals that call Tennessee home. Come out and meet the best teachers we have – the animals! Free for all ages.
St. Clair Senior Center
Room 105
This class focuses on strength, balance, cardio, core, and range of motion. Saturday class added! You must sign up for all classes due to the limited number of spaces available. No class September 6 or October 7. Limit 35. Meets in Room 105.
Room 204
In this class we will focus on core, balance and range of motion. Some resistance techniques may be used in the form of elastic bands or free weights. You must be able to transfer to and from a mat. You must sign up for all classes due to the limited number of spaces available. For ages 60+. Limit 10. Meets in Room 206.
Open Tai Chi class is open to all levels: beginners, intermediate and advanced and is taught by Eli Smith. The cost is $10 per month. Limit 20. Meets in Room 204.
Listen to your choice of Jazz or Bluegrass. Fee includes transportation. Admission is free. Bring a blanket or folding chair. Pack a picnic-type dinner or purchase take-out food at the event.
